Cookies Policy

The privacy of your data is extremely important to us, so we’re happy to explain how we use cookies, including what we don’t do with the data collected by cookies.
Cookies are small data files that websites generate and ask to store on your computer. Most websites use cookies in one form or another – the Cloudwater website is no exception.

We use cookies to

  • Remember settings, so you do not have to keep re-entering them whenever you visit a new page
  • Remember information you give to us through the Cloudwater website
  • Better understand how you use the website so we can make sure it meets your needs

We do not use cookies to

  • Collect any personal data about you (without your express permission)
  • Collect any sensitive personal data about you (without your express permission)
  • Serve advertising, or build advertising or marketing profiles about you
  • Share your data with any third party, apart from the Google services listed below: analytics, which runs only once you have accepted it, and reCAPTCHA, which protects the contact form from automated abuse

The cookies used by this website

These are the only cookies involved, and both are set by Google rather than by us. Neither is set simply by visiting a page: the analytics cookies are set only if you accept them, and the reCAPTCHA cookie only if you use the contact form.

Cookies set by this website, with their purpose and lifetime
NameSet byPurposeExpires
_ga*Google AnalyticsDistinguishes one visitor from another and keeps session state, so that visits can be counted2 years
_GRECAPTCHAGoogle reCAPTCHATells a person filling in the contact form apart from an automated script, so the form cannot be used to send bulk spam. Set on Google’s own domain, not on this one, and only once you start filling the form in6 months

Your cookie choice itself is not a cookie. We record it in your browser’s local storage under cw-cookie-consent. It stays on your device, is never sent to us or to anyone else, and is only used to remember whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies. It remains until you change your choice or clear your browser storage.

reCAPTCHA is not part of the analytics choice. It is what keeps the contact form from being used to send bulk spam, so it is treated as necessary to a service you have asked for rather than as something to opt into — declining analytics cookies does not stop you contacting us. It loads only when you start filling the form in, so reading the contact page without touching a field requests nothing from Google.

No advertising cookies are set by this website at any time.

Giving us permission to use cookies

When you first visit this website we ask whether you accept analytics cookies. Nothing is loaded from Google Analytics until you choose “Accept” – if you choose “Reject”, or simply ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are set and no request is made to Google.

You can change your mind at any time. Select “Cookie settings” in the footer of any page to bring the banner back and make a different choice. Withdrawing your consent is as easy as giving it.

The cookies that are strictly necessary for the website to work do not require your consent, and are not affected by this choice.

Better browsing experiences

Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website by enabling us to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us. Cookies expire after a set amount of time.

Managing cookies

If you want to, you can usually stop your browser accepting cookies from all sites, or stop it accepting cookies from a particular website. However, as cookies are a standard part of most modern websites, remember that this may limit the functionality of not only our site but many others too.

You can find the tools to manage cookies in the ‘Preferences’ or ‘Tools’ menu of your browser, otherwise you should use the ‘Help’ option in your browser for more details.
